happy new year and merry Christmas
I’m a steinberger fan originally. I was just born when the Newburgh original GL2T masterpiece came out but I learned about them as a teen guitarist in the late 90s

At the same time during the mid to late 90s I guess it was, Vigier and Parker did their own take on carbon fiber . I always wanted a Parker but the price was also what didn’t allow me to get a Vigier but when I was 13 I got a 98 surfeter Supra original delta metal on a lucky lucky trade and I was just blown away with the quality .  Nothing quite feels like a Vigier neck to me

Around the end of the Parker era (by 2003) I also discovered how difficult some of the part acquisition and repairs could be, but from what I understood Parker’s were more of an investment for a collector or a serious fan to be spending upwards of $3k (and since I have no technical ability for repairs I was concerned with all the issues I read about) - so I let the idea of a Parker fly go especialy because factory closed and with my financial abilities at the time I just said “oh well I missed that era but at least there’s Vigier “
Fast forward after some years of having the same stock and not trading for quite a while, I finally began to trade a year ago
During that time I was told while I may have missed Parker , Aristides was carrying on that vein of the Steinberger legacy, so I had the chance to trade for an Aristides , and I liked them so much I got another but the second I got was a 8 string and I had enough of that after a hand injury (28” stretches hurt now), so I said to myself let me see about a Parker or a Vigier

So I went online and read a lot of issues - especially pre 2003 I didn’t want to buy a used 20+ year old Parker only to inherit issues with either the pickup poles, or the frets , or the bridge or springs, or worst of all a crack in the exoskeleton - and luckily none were on CL…on the other hand, while I found Vigier was also closing its doors, it doesn’t have the same technical difficulties as Parkers, they also seem to have a stock of parts having just closed , and my new friend had a brand new ultra blues available

I wanted the lane for the shorter scale; flat radius, and extended cutaway, but like my Surfreter, the work and quality and craftsmanship are above all other luthiers I’ve ever played , so the ultra blues is just fine. The cutaway is no issue at all, the shorter scale was just more of an interest but if I had to go with aesthetic over an inch in scale I think this guitar looks really amazing (whereas no offense the lane is very plain but ofc also gorgeous in a natural way, but idk I guess this grew on me)

Vigier might make the best necks in the game, and nothing is more important than a neck. On top of that the Excalibur body is really the prettiest super Strat I’ve seen.
So I feel very lucky to have run into someone who had an ultra blues he got from a dealers old stock in 2023/2024…I mean the only thing that I’m not used to are the dimarzio virtual paf set but aside from that this guitar is just top top of the line…while I love my GL2T and to me it’s the quintessential electric, it lacks the feel and also richness/depth of wood, and while Parker also did something innovative, (and by extension Aristides perfected the technique), the lack of wood and hands on luthier is again a problem , the lack of a human artisan touching the instrument he creates with love, so to me no one does it better and I just wish I had known sooner about the closing otherwise I would’ve tried to grab a Shawn lane while I could and most of all the 7 string!!

Sorry if TLDR but it’s a long love story for guitars and Vigier lol
Really happy I just found this on CL two days ago !!
Long live Vigier! And happy new year !
(What parts should I buy in anticipating any replacement needs? Should I get a zero fret and nut ?) thanks

Mr Vigier it’s an honor to be welcomed by the best luthier on earth :) and you’re welcome by all means
One question: how can I lower the action?I read the manual and am familiar with the bridge and Allen keys but it seems even the enclosed smallest key doesn’t fit into the slot?? Do I need a smaller tool?

Thank you !!
