Re: Need help restoring a Vigier Custom to its full glory!!

1. You likely have a grounding issue, rather than a shielding issue. Make sure all groundings and their solder joints are secure. They’re a crapshoot to diagnose over a messageboard, but a soldering iron or any competent tech can correct this. Even if the issue comes down to some short or mechanical...

Re: Changing vol/tone pots on Vigier Shawn Lane

Remember that you can also modify the taper and behavior of the stock pots through experimenting with treble bleed values, 50s wiring, etc. - Unless you’re specifically wanting to avoid modifying from stock unless necessary.

Re: Changing vol/tone pots on Vigier Shawn Lane

It’s only an upgrade if you know you prefer 500k pots - No pros or cons. It seems many SL owners find the Air Classic and 1M volume pot to be too far from their personal tastes; so replacing the pickups and pots seems to be a common mod. If you find yourself preferring the sound of a different super...

Re: I imagine this gets asked alot...

Order through a Vigier dealer. If you’re based in the US, use this page: http://www.vigierguitars.com/vigier-dealers/
You can also email the distribution manager for your continent via the main site concerning availability and pricing.

Re: Used Vigier

I’m afraid the best place to find an Excalibur for that price is in 2019 or earlier. With Reverb having increased fees and enforced tax collection, and COVID messing with import/export worldwide, it’s no surprise that current prices are what they are. Just keep saving money and perusing the usual si...

Open String Buzz Shawn Lane!! Help

It reads as though you either received an incorrect replacement (with radiused segments rather than the flat one for the SL model) or the segments aren‘t seating properly.

Shawn Lane Master string action

<r><p>Though we still don’t know what the issue is with your guitar, I’ll mention that I’ve settled into using a 10-52 set on my SL. The heavier strings vibrate less-elliptically; and result in less buzz at the low action the flat fingerboard allows. For reference, I use 9-46 sets ...

Vigier vs Ibanez

<r><p>I imported one when I lived in CA. I own a Vigier Shawn Lane because there’s no production guitar like it. And while Vigier’s quality is second to none, the blunt truth is that there are many other “super strats“ in the same category available to a California player for...

How dare the Vigier family pass that CITES legislation and tell US Customs to be backed up indefinitely!

Custom Order Wait Time

<r><p>Were you quoted an <em>estimated</em> completion date, or just a timeframe? Sadly, a lot of custom builders (big and small) expend more effort in telling the customer the wait will be worth it than in either keeping them updated or in being honest up-front about how loose the timeframe is...

Excalibur Ultra Wiring

The site hasn't been working for me the last two days. The Megaswitch E's contacts are laid out specifically to prevent normal strat/RG switching. You'll likely have to purchase a separate switch to have the middle single-coil lead in position-3.

Shawn Lane Fixed Tremelo:

<r><p>The Vigier trem is essentially a two point strat trem - My SL (as with all others, when new) was set up for dive-only, and within minutes of owning it was set to pull the G up a minor third. It only requires loosing the spring screws and lowering the saddles to compensate for the higher action...

CShawn Lane Vigier sounds thin? Pickup change?

<r><p>My Shawn Lane arrived with the mirror pick guard cracked under one of the screws, as well. It worsened until I had to order a replacement. The next Vigier I buy will have direct-mount pickups, a floyd. and be used off eBay or reverb - That way, I won't feel too bad about replacing the pic...

CShawn Lane Vigier sounds thin? Pickup change?

I forget if the stock pot values are 1meg or 500k on that model, but I'd sugest trying switching out one or both pots for 250s before you change the pups.

Yup. In fact, the Shawn Lane model(s) are set up at the factory with the trem flush against the body, for pull-down only.

Replacement pickguards for SL

I found an old post from Ben stating that any Excalibur pickguards will fit the SL. I decided the stock Air Classics (And likely other low-output humbuckers) sounded better on the guitar than single-coils, and so only requested a single replacement pickguard from DJ.
