Dear Friends of Lapiro,

Freedom Now and Freemuse have informed us that a petition to the United Nations has been submitted for Lapiro's case.

Please find a press release. Also,

Also, this news from Freemuse :

UN General
Secretary asked Cameroon's

president to
consider imprisoned singer's case

When UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon visited Cameroon earlier this month, he
carried a letter about the imprisonment of Lapiro de Mbanga, and reportedly
asked President Biya to ?favourably consider? the case of the
singer. The US Senator
Richard Durbin has also put pressure on Cameroon for the release of
Lapiro.

His case is clearly taken seriously and we hope it will lead to his freedom. He has been detained since April 9, 2008 in Cameroon, at New Bell prison "* on earth".

Many thanks for your continued support. It has helped.
