I use a Slow Gear, Dynamic Filter, a Small Stone, and  a home made distortion. when i use fx the slowgear is the cool one.  I usually like to use no fx, I think it is cool to try to play your fx organic.  Mostly volume/delay, and harmonics...  I like there to be as little as possible between the string and the amp. By the way 2 x 50W is a bit too much in a band.... I think, I would love to see a 2x30W by Diezel, has it is enough and would make the head more transportable (Yes Diezel transformers are huge, which is good for the sound, but a pain in term of weight).

My last wish, that I have already seen in a Brunetti head, is a space dedicated in the head to put one rack.

Not really much to brag about here, Vigier Excess/1978 Fender Precision (usually the Vigier wins) Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver Boss ODB 3 Bass Overdrive Boss Ns2 noise suppressor (not an F/X pedal really, thoug) Usually, I just use the Sansamp as a glorified pre-amp, which isn't really as needed on a Vigier bass as it is on the passive P-bass. However, I think that when used together, the Sansamp and the Boss overdrive pedal creates a tight, punchy overdrive that can't be done using just the Boss alone. The noise suppressor is more needed on the Vigier, just because the pick ups have such a high output and tend to feedback more often. I sometimes use a Line 6 Bass Pod when recording at home, I like it but find it a bit fiddly for live work. I also own a Boss Bass Chorus pedal, but it rarely, if ever, gets used. I'm always on the lookout for a bass overdrive pedal to surpass the Boss one, which I've been playing for the last 8 years, but I have not really found one yet!

I just can't stand fiddling aroundwith extra stuff that chops up your tone and just gets in the way.....But wait I've posted this already................geez

Well, as for my HW,
  • H&K Tubeman 2
  • KORG pitchblack+ tuner
  • Marshall Flanger and Delay
  • Mackie mixer
  • Marshall combo for home use...
For me, Tubeman does it's work - I get a nice "almost" clean on channel 1 and a not-so-trash distortion for leads - it's great for me with Marshall delay - the sound drives me wild... For distortion/overdrive, tubes are best for me... I've tried several analogs...too "sandy" for me and the sound seems to be thin and weak, despite of the volume. For big cabinets/heads I'm in love with Mesa Boogie and H&K.

Ben wrote:Ed, did you try the delay that is in the Rocktron Prophesy? The big advantage is what they call the ducker delay. It dump the delay while you are playing. Are you using the Prophesy too Patrice?I use one in my rig, and I love it. Vigier + Rocktron = perfection in sound.

All you guys have really great great. My set up is very simple.  I use the Vigier Excalibur Supra all the time and I plug this into either a Cornford Carrera or a Roland Cube 30X.  I've been mostly using the Cube 30X because I don't gig and I think it's got a really great sound.  As far as pedals go I only use a Boss GE-7 to give me a bit of a boost and a Boss Compressor.  I don't like using many effects and I like to keep things simple.  I bought a Line 6 JM-4 looper for practicing and it's a great unit and very useful for practicing over chord progressions and working out what works well over certain chords.

Well, the Prophesy 2 is perhaps the killer-machine in Rocktrons program, but there is also an alternative for people asking for a tubey sound right out of the preamp. It is the Rocktron VooDu Valve Online, loaded with tons of famous effects found in other Rocktron award winning products.  Effects which resemble the sought after sounds of your favorite vintage analog stomp boxes include two-tap chorusing, dual- mode phaser, two-tap flanger, compression, frequency programmable wah-wah, tremolo, reverb, echo-like delay featuring unique tap tempo mode, pitch shift, and HUSH® noise reduction placed after the preamp and before the effects where it should be, (no noise reduction after the effects as you find with cheaper, noisier preamps). And last but not least, it also fits into a stereo rig.

I have started using the Aguilar Agro pedal, a big improvement over the sansamp and the boss pedals, which tended to take away from the natural tone of the bass. It seems that the more I gig, the more simple my set up. Since I last replied on this thread I now just use: Vigier Excess - tuner - agro -EBS Fafner.

My main equipment that I use on stage is a LINE 6 XT LIVE I use DIGITECH RP 350 at home I also have an analog set-up of BOSS DF-2, BOSS NS-2 (almost dead now) and IBANEZ TBX COMBO While I am travelling I use ZOOM G1 and DANELECTRO HONEYTONE MINI AMP

But whatever the F/X is the guitar should be a VIGIER m/

Here is the sweet sound I get from a simple DELL + USB cable + RP 350 + Creative labs A200

This is one version of my bass pedalboard:

Tuner to Boss SYB-5 (not shown is my EV-5 expression pedal controling it), to EH Big muff, to MXR bass octave DLX, to EBS multycomp, to Boss GE-7 EQ, To DD-3, to Crybabay to RC-20XL.

I give the sound guys a clean channel and a dirty one for them to mix upfront.

I use this setup with Electronica, Dub and Fusion gigs.

For most standard gigs it's just the tuner, octave & compressor.

Roey, that's a great looking pedal board!

Personally, I'm rocking a Pigtronix Mothership, Pigtronix Disnortion, Phase 90, Cry Baby Bass, and a home made volume. I'll post a pic after rehearsal tonight. It looks crazier than it is, but it's chock full of useable sounds.
