HI Guys!

I've been using these two amps for a short while..  The Splawn Quick Rod is a monster amp..  and I have been using it for over a year now.    I actually ahve two of them and a third one one the way. :D   I also use a Engl Blackmore which has been very fun to use.  the Z5 Footswitch coves a lot of area.

I used to use the Rocktron Prophesy, and a Rocktron Voodu Valve for a long time.  I ran it into marshall EL34-50/50 power amps and the 100/100 power amps to drive two or four 4x12 cabs.   I like massive tone  huh?  LOL.

Glad to see the forum is here.  I will put a link from my site to it if thats cool.

OH!   you must check them out.  They are a High Gain amp to cover the 80's Rock with a modern touch. they are full of tone :-)  http://www.splawnguitars.com   I started looking for another amp,  something like the prophesy sound.  since I like the rocktron gear so much.  I wanted something not so big like my racks.  The Splawn gives me the tone and the drive!  I am very happy and very impressed for over a year now.

I hope so too!  :-)    Have you, ( or anyone else) tried an Elmwood.  I am thinking or trying one!  a "modena 60"  www.elmwood.se I think is the website for them.

I'm going down to Oxford, MS in a week to test the Quick Rod. I've been searching for an amp for a long time now, and from the description, the QR seems to be like a perfect match. I play hard rock (Van Halen, Whitesnake, Ratt, Mountain) as well as fusion (Shawn Lane, Brett Garsedd, Guthrie Govan), so I hope it will fulfill my needs.

We've both been out of town, so I still haven't had the chance to demo the amp. I will soon though.Anyways, could the Quickrod get that fusion type tone, ala Guthrie Govan/Greg Howe?Something like this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS9SoX3LNfc

Well, I finally got to go up to Josh's cousin's house, where I demoed the QuickRod, as well as the ENGL Blackmore, Powerball, Invader, the Wizard something, and an Elmwood Bonneville comboThe QR does everything the Blackmore does, and then some. I'm completely in love with it. It does everything from Hendrix/SRV, to Van Halen, to Whitesnake, to Alice in Chains. AWESOME amp. The Powerball is also great, but it has more of that tight fuzzy (not a bad thing) preamp gain like on Mesas. If I were a seven string player or heavy heay drop tuned metal player, I'd get a Powerball.

HI!  UH- Gas!!  LOL  Well the Splawn is what a Marhsall amp SHOULD be today.  Yes its along the lines of the Cameron Mod.  I can be smoother or it can be VERY punchy!   I toss in some reverb and some echo and it gets smooth and large, Satch, vai etc.  Kick it off and I am in whitesnake or Motley crew world.   Change of guitars and I am in Gary Moore sounds.  Its been a great amp.  I put in some Wing -C- Tubes and it made it agressive.  Want some GAS Pictures?  I am a baaad man  HAHAAH http://www.guitarstudio.tv/pics/guitars/stackwithguitars.jpg  I couldnt get the message to embed in the the pic,   so I will link it for you.  enjoy

Hey Coolriffs!  well,, it can get mean.. nd it can get "nice"  this is the cranked 3rd gear, but mellow. http://www.guitarstudio.tv/splawn/splawnintro.mp3  this should give a idea of the character of the amp.    sorry for the waobly audio.. it happened when stripping it down for a small file. I have a EVH 5150 III Coming.  We will see how it compares!  It's going to be a tough challange for the EVH head!

Good morning Europe!    Glad to see your here posting with us hehe..   I was raised in England.  I think the Splawns have their place in Rock n Roll.   But I have a few other amps I like,  the Elmwood Modena 60 is another BIG favorite. built in Sweden and the Engl I cant believe but I just traded it off for a Gibson ES-335!  too cool!  I can doo rockabilly  LOL..  classic guitar though.  now to see if I can sell it for an Excaliber, or a Surfer and try that no fret stuff.

Engl loaned me a Powerball for one of my tours and I found it very versatile (yes I would agree the preamp gain sounded in the same sonic realm as a Mesa). THe Screamer combo is also another good Engl amp worth checking out.
