Questions about the 2014 Expert Retro 54 hardtail I just bought

I only had like 10 minutes to play with it, since it was a work day, but it's cool so far.
I have some initial questions, quite possibly off base, since I had to be quick...

1. Middle switch position is the middle pickup by itself, not bridge-neck like I think is standard on these. Did any of this vintage come like that from the factory? Seller says they didn't mod it, and I trust him, but he may not know the full history.
2. The tone control doesn't seem like a straight-up treble roll-off. Second half of its rotation seems normal, but something else may be going on in the bottom half. Was there ever some other tone control circuit in these? Of maybe it's just the particular cap and pot values used. Need to explore further.

Thanks for any ideas.

The switch middle position select bridge + neck pickup.
The tone "works" on the 1/4 last part of the rotation

On my guitar, middle switch position is definitely middle pickup only, I'm quite sure.
Sounds like you're saying none of them shipped from the factory like that. Is that right?

My guitar has 9.5 strings on it now, according to the seller.
If I want to use 10s like my other guitars, is that different enough that I should get a nut cut for that specific string gauge?
Where would I get that, from Vigier France?

None of our guitar is middle pickup only in position 3
If you install 10 string, you must get the right nut, the Vigier nut that has 2 dots on the bottom. You can order it at EMMA Music in France.

We are working on a site for our musician to gets Vigier parts from us...

Thanks, but I'm confused about the nut.
This page appears to have a nut that covers multiple string sizes (I don't speak French), "Pour tirants 9-42 9-46 10-46", looks like it covers both 9.5 and 10. I I'm reading that right, the one I have should be ok.
Next size up is this, for 11s I think.
Do I have that right?

Next size is 10-52
you have the info in the FAQ here
so you need the nut with 2 dots

Emma site is not accurate, the nut 11-52 does not exist...

Thank you.

I'm in the US.
Where would I order the nut with 2 dots?
For online ordering, if that's what turns out to be best, what is it actually called?
I can't check how many dots it has.

If you are installing ten strings, you must use the Vigier nut, which has two dots on the bottom. You may get it via EMMA Music in France.
