Hello
My name is Cesar, from Zaragoza, Spain,
I have recently purchased a 1994 Excalibur Original (SN 940216).
I've noticed that the carbon fiber strip that runs along the back of the neck is tucked aprx 1mm inward creating a "low relief" that is very noticeable when you put your thumb down and is uncomfortable.
Is it possible that it came out of the factory like this? I don't think so, but If not, what could have caused it and has a solution?
Could this be a problem affecting the guitar's performance or tuning in the future?
I don't think this issue is normal and I am concerned about it.
I also own a 2006 Excalibur Supra (SN 060468) and don't have that problem at all.
I will be very grateful if you can answer me.
Best Regards. César

If the carbon is under the wood, it means the wood has expended, probably humidity. It should be no problem for your neck.
The solution to remove the gap (That cannot be as much as 1mm but more 0,1/0,2mm)) you must sand the wood and revarnish if necessary.
