Zero Fret Clicking Problem

I have a Shawn Lane Excalibur and I've noticed when I'm playing on the lower frets (1st - 5th) I am experiencing a clicking noise coming from near the nut / zero fret . It looks like the zero fret is a bit loose and when I am bending or vibrato on the D or G string the zero fret segment seems to move causing this clicking noise .  Is this normal and can anyone offer any solution ??  I have already ordered some more zero fret segments so hopefully changing them will fix the issue but I am worried the slot has become loose ??

Have you kept to 9-42 or changed strings, if so did you change the nut too? You can try swapping the segments around...if not take it back to your dealer to inspect.

Currently I have 09-46 strings but the stock nut is able to take 9-46 as well I believe ..

Also I can visibly see the zero fret segments rattle/shift slightly when the click happens .

I would say take it back to the dealer where you purchased to look at if under warranty - without looking or knowing the issue it is hard to say. The nut is 9-46 and can take 9-42, 9-46 or 10-46.

Experienced a similar issue with my guitar.  It happens if I bend the B string on frets 1-3. It's the zero fret. I can see minor wear on it when the G B and E strings touch. I believe it's the original zero fret but I cannot say this with certainty. Mine came with the zero fret that is one piece. I just ordered a replacement from Rainbow Guitars in the US. Should be an easy fix.
