I’m wondering what the fundamental differences are between an Excalibur Indus and Excalibur Special.

Am I right in thinking that it’s mainly the pickups and pickup configuration (PAF Classics vs ToneZone & PAF Pro, and H-H vs H-S-H)?

Reason for my question is a friend of mine is selling me his Indus and I’d like to make it as close as possible to the Excalibur Special I owned (and loved) years ago.

I was thinking I could buy a Vigier H-S-H pickguard, and change the pickups – but is the Indus body routed for H-S-H, or ‘swimming pool’ routed – or is it only routed for H-H?

Would doing this basically give me an Excalibur Special, or are there some other differences?

Thanks in advance everyone!

The routing for an Indus is H-H.

As well as differences with p/ups, the Excalibur Special also features a Maple top.
