hey

i got my vigier almost as soon as they were out, serial is 980143( French Excalibur ,1998)

i was wondering how to tell if it's a Supra or special ?

VIGIER is surprisingly the best neck I've ever touched  (unfortunately very far too few people, guitarists even ,know a French guitar exists)

i have an older model, but the carbon graphite strip was genius...tune is never any issue

also, what's best way to do a setup (new string and clean delta metal )??

thanks!

Thank you for your wonderful words - we too think Vigier are amongst the best, but we are biased!

I think the postcard is to register warranty - if the guitar is from 1998, warranty is a tad out of date…but also shows how well made if you have never had to use it!

Easy to tell difference, if it has a Maple top it is a Special.

If you are cleaning the guitar, use MusicNomad products - it is the only thing Vigier uses/recommends. For the Delta Metal fingerboard, the MusicNomad Cymbal Polish works a treat.

Hope that all helps!

Thanks man

I know it sounds ridiculous but I can't tell if it's flamed or not because it's cherry red that kind of bursts , like a cherry red tobacco burst

Can't find the color on the site

also the variety of flat wounds are exponentially increased; I been using 12-52 and 11 on the bottom but recommendations? I like speed/shred/jazz (like Focus by Cynic) if u will

(I'll be getting that brand cleaner now: thx)

Also I just wanted to register with the company as owner, not for any repair issues, 20 years without issue ;)

It is fine to send the registration card back to the factory…

For strings - this can be as personal taste and differ from player to player (I have seen some very different set-ups). You can try flatwounds or standard strings, different gauges and tunings to get the right set-up for your style.

For the body, sounds like Alder (so a Surfreter Supra) - a Maple top is very obvious, with the Maple showing around the edges (binding). Feel free to post any pics!
