Some of the tops I've seen on Vigiers are stunning. However, I notice a few of them seemed to be poorly book-matched. Was just looking at a Vigier from a shop in Lincoln and the top just doesn't seem well matched at all and I've seen a few others like this too:

What's up?

To book match a top it is very simple, you cut the piece of wood in two in its thickness and glue the two parts together. We do not use two parts that are not book matched. What you show on the picture is that, depending on the angle you look at the guitar, the flames are more or less visible. I guess if you take the picture in an other angle, the left part might look like having more flame. What is sure is that they are identical, simply because it is the same piece of wood.
