yes the jsx as great tone on all 3 channels.I have a boss Ds1 to use on the clean channel,but hardly ever use it.crunch + lead channel have active E.Q and I tend to use them.clean channel is warm,stays clean at high volume,so I use it with no F.X.

i mainly just use my amp chanals and a boss delay. the excalibur custom sounds great with the jsx head and a * cab. i have a boss ds1 but its not as clear at loud volumes in band situations so i dont use it much.

does anyone play an excalibur 7 string and have some music i can listen to. i like the look of it and want to here one. thanks steve
